Feature Title: A Year of Excellence for FBLA
Feature Summary: The Taliaferro County School Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America has many accomplishments to be proud of for the 2008-2009 school term.
Leader Feature: Elicia Mosely is the adviser of the chapter’s 24 members. The chapter officers are Terrance Rhodes (President), Ja’Requs Randolph (Vice President), Shelva Stewart (Secretary), Ashley Mitchell (Reporter), Demetrius Stewart (Historian), Xavier Terrell (Treasurer), and Octavius Rollinson-Sails (Parliamentarian). The year began with the Fall Motivational Rally in Macon, Georgia. During this event, FBLA members had the opportunity to begin the day with a general session along with chapters from around the state. The rally then moved to the Georgia State Fair where members had the opportunity to enjoy rides and team open testing events.

The Fall Leadership Conference took place November 20-21 in Athens, Georgia. FBLA members participated in leadership sessions to prepare for a successful year in competitive events and chapter activities.

On January 16 TCS chapter members competed in the Region 14 FBLA Leadership Conference in Covington, Georgia. Ja’Requs Randolph placed 1st in Computer Applications and Public Speaking II. Torian Ware placed 1st in Word Processing I. Keith Brooks placed 2nd in Database Design and Applications. Terrance Rhodes placed 2nd in Future Business Leader. Dominique Mitchell placed 5th in Future Business Leader. Qervanta Turner placed 2nd in Word Processing II. Dominique Mitchell and Terrance Rhodes placed 3rd in the Emerging Business Issues team event. Octavius Rollinson-Sails placed 3rd in Spreadsheet Applications.

Ms. Mosely and the FBLA chapter would like to thank the Taliaferro County PTA for sponsoring the ten members competing at the State Leadership Conference held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta on March 27-29. It was a great help to the chapter. At this conference, Torian Ware placed 7th in Word Processing I, and Terrance Rhodes was installed as a Region 14 Officer. Terrance will begin his region officer training in July. Ja’Requs Randolph (Computer Applications and Public Speaking II), Octavius Rollinson-Sails (Spreadsheet Applications), and Terrance Rhodes (Future Business Leader) did a good job  advancing to the state level in their respective events. Ashley Mitchell, Dominique Mitchell, Xavier Terrell, and Whitney Pope used their proficiency to compete in Parliamentary Procedure while Demetrius Stewart and Tyler Rhodes tried their knowledge in Sports Management. All members attending completed a leadership track that included sessions to plan their futures and to network with professionals and other FBLA members. Gregory Rhodes (Jobs for Georgia Graduates Career Coordinator) and Elicia Mosely accompanied the competitors. The chapter would like to thank the entire community for their support of the TCS FBLA.
